Honey I shrunk the exhibit
A bugs-eye view of life

Exhibit videos that work at 100x scale orient and educate visitors to life in the wild and woolly underground.

The Underground Adventure is an amazing "immersive experience" environment at Chicago's Field Museum that is built at 100-times scale. Angle Park produced all of this exhibit's A/V elements, which are peppered throughout a nearly-10,000 square foot space that feels more like a Hollywood set than a museum. Phil produced and directed the live action clips. Martin was the director of photography and editor.

The "Ant Scientist" orients visitors to the exhibit. Before visitors are "shrunk" to 1/100th of their normal size, this character tells them about what to expect in the Micro Soil Lab.

Just like a national park guide, the "Ranger" tells them about how to interact with the exhibit elements and move about.

The "Root Scientist" greets visitors and tells them about the wonders of nitrogen-consuming rhyzobia.

After visitors are "shrunk" to 1/100th of their normal size, this "Mole Tracking Station" keeps them aware of potentially dangerous giant moles in the area. Phil acquired the mole footage for this clip (weeding through dozens of molÈ sauce recipes on the internet), Martin designed and animated the radar-like monitor.

The "Moving Through the Soil Touchscreen" allows visitors to choose from five brief clips that show that soil is hardly a static, boring environment. Phil did extensive stock footage research to acquire these images of underground creatures.

These video elements won a 1999 Muse Award from the American Association of Museum.
